Town House Extention, Winchester
The project is a semi detached Victorian house on the edge of the Winchester conservation area.
The owners wanted to remodel the internal spaces to create formal and informal living areas. To achieve this, the rear of the house was opened up to create an open plan kitchen dining and sitting area. A new glass box contemporary extension with a zinc roof was added to create the desired space and to encourage natural light. It was with this in mind that a glazed slot was left, allowing light to penetrate the inner un lit space. The emphasis that was placed on the importance of natural light, ensures that the entire space has a bright, contemporary feel throughout.
The clients interest in South American artifacts influenced the interior spaces with the use of accent colour and textiles.
The entire house has been remodelled to create modern ensuite facilities. We also opened up the corridors to increase the amount of natural light throughout. These spaces are occupied by study areas that break up the original Victorian corridor.
The gardens were landscaped to create the ideal setting for the glazed contemporary extension. The glass box doors create the perfect flow between the modern interior and private outdoor space.
